Welcome to Tip #1, in my 5 Part Series on Securing your Wireless Network.

security key 300x278 First, set up a network security key

A network security key is a password that will help protect your wireless network from unauthorized access.

When you buy a new wireless router, the default settings will give open access to your network. This means that anybody in range of your network can access your Internet connection.

Create a unique Username and Password and change the Network Name (also called SSID) so that you will be the only one who can log in to your wireless network.

If you’re not sure how to do this, or would like to learn more, be sure to visit YourComputerHelpDesk.com.

Have a good day,

Buddy
