Stocks,

Recent News,

Or more than 4,000 other “widgets.”

This is our 8th tip in our series “Mac OS X Snow Leopard – 15 Tips You Need To Know”.

Well when you get an Apple computer, these 3 programs work together to improve your computing experience.

Apple offers Mail (email), Address Book and iCal (calendar) to help you get things done with efficiency and accuracy.

Mail works with the most popular email standards of today as well as the most popular email services (Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, and AOL Mail).

You can even have multiple email accounts in Mail, so all of your emails are in one place!

Address Book gives you a place to store your contact information. You can

Import information from applications,

Create distribution lists, and

Print address labels and envelops.

Address Book even uses the vCard format, the most popular format for contact information today, so that you can send and receive vCards.

To load a vCard onto your Mac, simply click and the contact information stored in the card is automatically loaded into your contacts.

iCal allows you to create multiple calendars to separate your work and home life (for example).

You can even hide calendars to simplify viewing.

One of the extra neat things about iCal is that it allows you to create events. You can then use your Address Book to send emails to your guest list and it will keep track of attendee responses. If you get an invitation it will automatically be added to your iCal.

These 3 programs are fully integrated into one another to help you get stuff done faster and easier than you could ever imagine.

If you are experiencing any problems iCal, Mail, or Address Book or you need any help with your Mac – feel free to visit www.YourComputerHelpDesk.com, contact us, or call us at (800) 573-0234.

As with every new installation, you are going to have to set up a few things on your computer before you can really…

This is our 2nd tip in our series “Mac OS X Snow Leopard – 15 Tips You Need To Know”.

get to work with your new computer.

So lets go through a few Mac OS X features that you are definitely going to want to enable.

Set your keyboard’s tab button to scroll through all boxes and buttons when filling out online forms by going to:

System Preferences → Keyboard Shortcuts.

Down at the bottom check the “All controls” button.

Setting up your Track Pad

System Preferences → Trackpad.

Under One Finger ensure that “Tap to Click” is enabled.

Under 2 Fingers ensure that “Secondary Tap” is enabled.

If you don’t want to enable the 2-finger “secondary tap” you can still “secondary click” by holding command and clicking.

Turning on your Firewall – this will help protect your computer from viruses and hackers!

System Preferences → Security → Firewall

Click the start button.

If you wish to have a login screen (for security purposes)

System Preferences → Security → General

Check the box that says “disable automatic login”

If you are having trouble modifying any of the settings mentioned above, it’s possible that they are locked so that not just anyone can change them!

This is an added security measure apple has in place for your protection.

Don’t worry it’s really simple to unlock them, you may have noticed the small lock in the bottom left corner of the screens, if it’s locked simply

Click it,

Enter your password, and

You should be able to modify any setting you want!

If you want to lock it back simply click the lock again and it will lock.

There are many other cool and useful features located in System Preferences, and we encourage you to modify them, as you like, so that you can have the fastest and most efficient use of Mac OS X Snow Leopard possible.
