Windows 7: Browse Faster with Jump Lists
Finding that 1 file on your computer can be a real hassle, especially when you have a couple hundred files.
Now you can find recently used files faster…
This is our 7th tip in our series “Windows 7 – 15 Tips You Need to Know”. This information is also available in our “Windows 7: 15 Tips You Need To Know” eBook.
Windows 7 new feature called Jump Lists, will do this for you.
A Jump List is a list of documents, files, pictures, songs, or websites that you have recently viewed or set as a bookmark (called “pinning”).
How do I use a Jump List, you might wonder?
It’s so simple, just:
- Move your cursor down to the taskbar.
- Right click on a program.
- Click the content that you wish to open.
What type of content each list contains is program specific, for example:
- Web Browser will contain recently viewed or “pinned” websites
- Microsoft Word will contain recently opened or “pinned” documents.
- Windows Media Player will contain recently opened or “pinned” music files.
You might be wondering exactly what does it mean to “pin” something to a Jump List. “Pinning” is simply creating a bookmark to a specific file (usually 1 that you open very frequently).
To “pin” a file all you have to do is drag the file down to the taskbar and release. Then that item will show up under a section called “Pinned.”
Windows 7 allows you to browse your computer with increasing speed and ease!
